Sustainability
Sustainability: It Matters to You, and to Us
We know sustainability is an important issue to you. And supporting sustainable fishing practices has been important to us since the beginning. As sustainability becomes more important to our consumers, we continue to work hard to be the industry leader in this arena. At Odyssey, we define sustainable seafood as fresh or farmed fish that does not have a negative impact on aquatic ecosystems, global environment or fish populations.
Encouraging sustainable fishing practices is not just smart business for us, it’s the right thing to do.
Here we describe just a few of the ways we strive to be good stewards. You can read more about our sustainability practices in our blog. We source many of our products from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified fisheries and bring you Wild Alaskan products supported by the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI). We also provide products that are harvested and processed following Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP). Our BAP certified processing plants produce a product that is better for you, the environment, and the global community by following strict guidelines.
We work hard to ensure the safety and sustainability of all of our products. One way that we ensure this is by using a web-based “information supply chain”, that allows us to track our product from its source all the way to your local grocer’s freezer.
Environmental responsibility is important to us in both our fishing practices and our business operations. As “going green” becomes more and more important for our planet’s health, and ultimately, our health, we’re taking steps each day to make sure that we operate as efficiently as possible.
